With more than 50 years of professional activity, Bohdan Zakiewicz has been awarded numerous prestigious awards from various countries, as well as International Prizes, Awards, and Decorations. - Multiple-Bore-Hole System for Dynamic Dewatering of open cast Brown Coal Mine Adamów, Poland 1956. Worldwide innovatory system with implementation for large-scale safe mining- COAL extracting operations. This system replaced conventional dewatering (i.e. shaft-tunneling system) from which dozens of miners were killed every year from collapsing and quicksand flooding of mining tunnels.
- Multiple-Bore-Hole System for Dynamic Dewatering of open cast Brown Coal Mine Pątnów, Poland 1957. Improved system to (1).
- Multiple-Bore-Hole System for Dynamic Dewatering of open cast Brown Coal Mine Turów, Poland 1957. Similar system to (2).
- Multiple-Bore-Hole System for Dynamic Dewatering of open cast Brown Coal Mine Bełchatów, Poland 1976. Similar system to (2). This system was introduced to Bełchatów mine, despite of Dr. Zakiewicz’s protests and his proposal to protect this huge hole, with an intra-formation solid wall made through the use of rows of multiple bore-hole’s explosives barrier infiltration of ground water to the mine. NOTE: A similar Multiple-Bore-Hole System for Dynamic Dewatering for several Brown Coal mines was copied and implemented in Germany, Russia, and Ukraine.
- Multiple Bore-Hole Explosive Barriering System made for Bore-Hole Sulphur Mine Mishraq in Northern Iraq (Mosul) to the depth of 100 m, for confinement of dramatic outflow of 60% out of total production hot water from sulphur deposit to Tigris River.
- Multiple-Bore-Hole System for Dynamic Dewatering of open cast Sulphur Mine Piaseczno, Poland 1957. Worldwide innovatory system with implementation to the large scale safe mining- sulphur extracting operations. The said system was replacing conventional life threatening dewatering system for the water, which was contaminated and emitting to the atmosphere of deadly concentration of hydrogen sulphide.
- Multiple-Bore-Hole System for Dynamic Dewatering of open cast Sulphur Mine Machów, Poland 1960. Improved system to (7). First in the World anti-filtration barrier impervious wall, to prevent open cast cave from flooding with Vistula river water.
- Drilling-Milling Method of construction 6 km long intra-formation watertight barrier build for Sulpur opencast Mine in Machów, for protection against thread of deluge, which was expected from Vistula River, neighboring with open cast mine.
- Bore-Hole Mining System for Hydro-Thermo-Dynamic extraction of crystalline Sulphur from non-confined deep deposits Grzybów. Poland, 1966. Worldwide innovatory system with unprecedented high recoverability factor, exceeding 75%, versus conventional 30%. The said system was replacing danger and ineffective open cast mining and introducing a substantial energy savings.
- Bore-Hole Mining System for Hydro-Thermo-Dynamic extraction of crystalline Sulphur from non-confined deep deposits Jeziórko I. Poland, 1967. Similar system to (8).
- Bore-Hole Mining System for Hydro-Thermo-Dynamic extraction of crystalline Sulphur from non-confined deep deposits Jeziórko II. Poland, 1968. Similar system to (8).
- Bore-Hole Mining System for Hydro-Thermo-Dynamic extraction of crystalline Sulphur from non-confined deep deposits Jeziórko III. Poland, 1967. Similar system to (8). Note: The above (6 to 11) items were producing 5,000,000 metric tons of sulphur per year. The similar system was copied from Polish operations and implemented in Russia-Ukraine.
- Bore-Hole Mining System for Hydro-Dynamic frontal extraction of crystalline Salts from bedded type deposits Siedlec/Bochnia, Poland, 1965. Worldwide innovatory system with unprecedented high recoverability factor, exceeding 75%, versus conventional 30%. The said system was replacing danger and ineffective underground conventional, mostly hand made mining and introducing a substantial increase of productivity, exemplified with 100 folds output per capita.
- Bore-Hole Mining System for Hydro-Dynamic frontal extraction of crystalline Salts from boulder type deposits Wieliczka, Poland, 1965. Worldwide innovatory system with extraction of Boulders without miners in the cavities. The said system was replacing danger and ineffective underground conventional, mostly hand made mining and introducing a substantial increase of productivity, exemplified with 100 fold output per capita.
- Bore-Hole Mining System for Hydro-Dynamic extraction of crystalline Salts from diaper type deposits Góra/Inowrocław. Poland, 1968. Vertical Multi- Chamber leaching of salt under strict submarine’s hydro-echo-sond control of the shape of the individual chambers. Worldwide innovatory system of developing storage chamber with unprecedented high speed of cavity creation for depleted uranium and/or hydrocarbons in salt matrix, without any roof supporting system.
- Bore-Hole Mining System for Hydro-Dynamic extraction of Phosphate Concretes from loose sandy- clayey formation Burzenin/Łódź. Poland, 1966. Horizontal Multi- Chamber extraction with adjustable jet cannons under strict submarine’s hydro-echo-sond control of the shape of cavity. Worldwide innovatory system of developing cavity in loose formation without any roof supporting system and by the same to perform sub-surface mining without any open cast.
- Bore-Hole Mining System for deposit Jaltipan. Mexico, 1971. Hydro-Thermo-Dynamic extraction of crystalline sulphur, was reactivated of the terminated mine and doubled original output up to 1,000,000 tons per year, by hydraulically plugging of un-confined production fields. Worldwide innovatory system with improved high recoverability factor, exceeding 80%, versus conventional 30%. First in the world recycling hot water system, which brought substantial energy savings and restore profitable production.
- Bore-Hole Mining System for Hydro-Thermo-Dynamic extraction of crystalline sulphur, which was reactivated on terminated mine and deposit Texistipec Mexico, 1971. Similar system to (13).
- Bore-Hole Mining System for Hydro-Thermo-Dynamic improved extraction of crystalline Sulphur, with output of 1,000,000 tons per year, from artificially confined very difficult, 250 m deep deposit Mishaq. Iraq, 1969. Worldwide innovatory system with improved high recoverability factor, exceeding 85%, versus conventional 30%. First in the World Multi-Bore-Hole anti - leakage infrastructure torpedo barrier to the depth of 100 m, to stop losses of production hot water into Tigris River.
- Bore-Hole Mining System for deposit Rustler Spring, Texas, USA, 1978. By introducing Hydro-Thermo-Dynamic recycling of production water for extraction of crystalline Sulphur, the abandoned production was restored for another 20 years with output of 2,000,000 tons per year,. Worldwide innovatory system with improved high recoverability factor, exceeding 85%, versus conventional 30%.
- Bore-Hole Mining System for deposit Chacahoula, Luisiana, USA, 1979. Hydro-Thermo-Dynamic recycling of production water for extraction of crystalline Sulphur, with restored output of 500,000 tons per year. Worldwide innovatory system of Super Daisy Shaft with lateral small diameter Jet Stinger’s wells, with explosive fracturing of the formation for high recoverability factor, exceeding 85%, versus conventional 30%. First in the World deep SDS (750 m) with diameter of 15 feet.
- Bore-Hole Mining System for deposit Hoskins Mound, Texas, USA, 1980. By introducing innovatory modified Hydro-Thermo-Dynamic recycling of production water for extraction of crystalline Sulphur, with output of 500,000 tons per year,. Worldwide innovatory system of Super Daisy Shaft with lateral small diameter Jet Stinger’s wells, with explosive fracturing of the formation for high recoverability factor, exceeding 85%, versus conventional 30%. Depth of deposit: 450 m.
- Bore-Hole “Drill and Dredge” Mining System for Rotokaua, New Zealand 1982. Underground Leaching of Sulphur from deposit, occurring from under bottom of lake. Innovatory system for mining under lake from barges, with no damages to the water. Post-extraction chambers have diameter of 40 m.
- Bore-Hole Mining System for Underground Gasification of Sulphur to SO2 from deposit Ain Sifn, depth: 900m, Shantung Province, China, 1986. Underground melting of crystalline Sulphur in this difficult deposit was inefficient, and the only solution was innovatory system of processing sulphur in the deposit. with gas output substituting 1,000,000 tons per year. The SO2 gas has been designated for catalytic conversion into SO3 and subsequent H2SO4. Note: Until recent days, the worldwide Sulphur production reaches 190,000,000 tons, which were recovered with use of Bohdan Zakiewicz’s Bore-Hole mining methods.
- Multiple Bore-Hole system for UNCOMCOAL underground gasification of bituminous coal for Mars mine/deposit, Silesia, Poland, 1962. First in Europe Demonstration Plant for underground successful coal gasification, which was followed by another similar projects for bituminous and brown coal in Poland and other countries.
- Multiple Bore-Hole system for UNCOMCOAL underground gasification of brown coal for Březno mine/deposit, Czechoslowakia, 1962. Second in Europe Demonstration Plant for underground successful coal gasification, which was followed by another similar projects.
- Multiple Bore-Hole SDS system for CEEC underground gasification of brown coal deposit, Glendale, Texas, USA 1979. First in USA Demonstration Project for underground coal gasification with unprecedented capacity of 5,000,000 cum per day.
- Multiple Bore-Hole SDS - THERMOFLUID system for underground fluidization and unlocking of heavy and ultra heavy crude oil reserves and on field upgrading from 60 API to 300 API by thermo-cracking gasification and spontaneous hydrogenation of crude. First in USA Projects: Oxnard, Belridge and San Ardo in California, with initial capacity of 3,000 barrels of light crude per day each.
- Multiple Bore-Hole SDS - THERMOFLUID system for underground fluidization and unlocking of ultra light, 410API – 420API gravity oil huge reserves which are entrapped in chalk formation. Initial capacity of such mine is 30,000 barrels per day. First Project in USA: the location is confidential.
